Overview Technical Support Training FAQs
Where can I obtain a user name and password?

User name and password information is personally provided to all teachers, students and administrators during initial training – parents who attend training session will also receive this information personally - parents who do not attend these training sessions will receive their account information through the school by mail.

What if I have more than one student enrolled in school?
If you are a parent with more than one student enrolled in the school, each of your children will automatically be associated with you account, and you will be able to access and choose each child’s information independently through the same login information.
How often are grades on Spiral updated?

Each teacher has his or her own grading policy. Our system support real time grading, but normally scores and assignments are updated within a few days after work is submitted.

Can I reply to the internal alerts I receive?

Internal alerts are different than messages. They are read-only messages sent from the administration intended to communicate brief general information such as a Snow Day. Replies to alerts are restricted, if you have a question or concern about something in an alert, you can respond by sending an internal email to the administration or contacting them directly by phone.

How do I set up extra credit?

When creating an assignment, the computer will prompt you asking if this is a “graded assignment” and if it is an “extra credit” assignment simply check-off the corresponding box. When a student turns in extra credit, enter the score for this assignment. The points will count towards their grades; however, the computer will not average the extra credit automatically into the final grade. This is to provide the teacher added control in weighing the extra credit work

How do I override the final grade that a student is receiving?

First locate the class which contains the student whose grades need to be modified. Highlight the final grade in the spreadsheet and enter the adjustments. A warning will appear, asking you to confirm the change, click OK to Save

How do I record letter grades instead of numerical scores?

Spiral provides the option of using letter grades rather than numerical scores when selected for any assignment, homework, or exam. To use this function, locate the scoring type field, located in the first screen of posting new grades, and simply select the appropriate grading scale.

How often can we expect grades to be updated?

There are many factors that determine how soon a teacher can assess and return assignments. Essays and research papers take longer to grade than a quiz. Coaching, club sponsorships, and family commitments can also affect turnaround time, as well as a teacher's student load. All teachers do their best to grade their students and communicate their progress in a timely manner.

Do all teachers use the same grading scales?

No. Grading scales vary among teachers and among classes. An average of 62% might earn a grade of D- for some teachers or a grade of F for other teachers. All teachers share their grading scales as well as other class policy information with their students at the beginning of each course.

Can other people see my son's/daughter's grades?

As long as you protect your password, others will not be able to see your information.
